Born in Queens and raised on Long Island, Dr. Alvarez graduated with multiple honors and national awards from high school and was subsequently admitted to the prestigious seven year combined BA/DDS program at New York University. Dr. Alvarez completed his undergraduate bachelor's degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry in only three years. Continuing on to NYU College of Dentistry, Dr. Alvarez excelled at both surgical and cosmetic procedures. Once again graduating in the top of his class, at the age of only 24, he went on to complete a postgraduate residency training program at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In 2009, Dr. Alvarez was admitted and subsequently received a degree in acupuncture from Harvard Medical School. A course designed for physicians only, Dr. Alvarez was the sole dentist in his class. 

For close to three decades, Dr. Alvarez has been refining his talents in the art and science of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is a full fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute, the most respected organization dedicated to the advancement of lasers in dentistry. He has also lectured both domestically and internationally on the topic of laser dentistry, and for Oraverse®, A dental anesthetic reversal agent. Dr. Alvarez is Board Certified in Aesthetic Medicine, and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. He also serves on the faculty of the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Alvarez has also completed his DSD Digital Smile Design residency. In addition, Dr. Alvarez is certified in the use of dermal fillers for lip augmentation and reduction of facial wrinkles, and Botox® to help treat TMJ facial pain, headaches, and for elimination of mild to moderate facial wrinkles.

Dr. Alvarez also has been certified in the use of multiple lasers and radiofrequency devices to aid in facial rejuvenation, including for wrinkles and laxity of the face and around the mouth.

To honor those who serve us, Dr. Alvarez is a Police Surgeon for both the New York State Troopers PBA and Amtrak Police Department FOP and has served since 2008. In January of 2013, Dr. Alvarez successfully completed and graduated from NYPD's Citizens Police Academy.
